Attendance

At Thames Primary Academy, our mantra is that every day counts.

Regular attendance is vital for your child’s educational, social, and emotional development, ensuring they do not miss out on fundamental learning experiences, structured routines, and building friendships.

Even small amounts of missed time quickly accumulate into substantial lost learning: missing just one day a fortnight adds up to two weeks of lost education a year!

Over a child’s primary school journey, missing just 10% of school time (roughly 19 days a year) adds up to losing almost an entire academic year of progress.

Punctuality is equally important, being just a few minutes late, quickly adds up!

Minutes lost = lost learning!

It’s also REALLY embarrassing to walk in late & it disturbs everyone else!

To help us keep your child safe and accounted for, please report any morning sickness or emergency absence as early as possible by calling our dedicated office phone line on 01253 341 466 (option 1) or by submitting a report directly through the Arbor Parent App. You can also email us at absence@thames.atctrust.org.uk

If you need to request a planned absence during term time, please complete our online Leave of Absence Request Form at least 2 weeks in advance. Please note that term-time leave can only be authorised under exceptional circumstances. Thank you for partnering with us to give your child the best possible start to their education!

What can you do to support your child’s attendance?

Maintain healthy routines.

Share any worries you or your child may have with us, as soon as possible.

Book appointments outside of school time (where possible).

Be prepared – have uniform/lunches ready to go the night before.

Talk to your child about how important education is and how you want them to achieve to the best of their ability.

Show your child/children that we are working together to ensure they let their potential soar!
